Bird Watching at Bhandup - Bhandup Pumping Station

This might look to you as just a pumping station and bus stand by the creek but it is a bird watcher's paradise early in the mornings especially during the winters. As you sit here silently during the mornings, you will catch sight of some of the most beautiful birds that you would have thought only existed in the sanctuaries. This includes herons, bulbuls, cornorants and many others. Showing of their skills and in their musical tones they will make your day.

Meeting Time: 7:00 AM
Cost Include: Packed Breakfast, Guide and Professional Expertise, First-aid.
Cost Doesn't Include: Transport till Bhandup pumping station bus stop, Lunch, Any kind of Insurance or medical evacuation facilities, Any item not covered under the head 'Cost Include'.

Itinerary

07:00 AM : Reporting at Bhandup pumping station bus stop.
07:30 AM : Introduction and Breakfast.
08:00 AM : Start the Salt pans walk with Birdwatching, identifying & other fauna enroute.
12:00 PM : Reach the end point and an activity.
12:30 PM : Move back to Bhandup Station.
02:00 PM : Reach Bhandup station. Depart for the day.

What to Bring!

1. Carry 2-3 Ltr of water (compulsory).
2. Wear good shoes.
3. Carry Cap/Scarf/Goggles.
4. Carry Sunscreen or any other Sun lotion.
5. Carrying Binocular and Camera is optional.
6. Participants are required to wear dull coloured clothes ONLY (Compulsory).
7. Green and brown are best suited for Nature trails as they help you camouflage with the environment without alarming any wildlife present in the vicinity.
8. Do not touch any creature or plant without permission.
9. Strictly, NO smoking, alcohol consumption or intake of un-prescribed drug will be tolerated.

In case of the Cloudy Sky, Event will not be cancelled, Singing Songs with Guitarist and Campfire will be Continued with Delicious veg food.
Prior Registration is compulsory for all the participants.
Although the camp-site is secure with partial fencing, NO ONE should wander off the camp-site without intimating the organizers or without organizer’s permission.
Use Site, Equipment’s and Tents with precaution’s – Any Damages to Tents will recovered from Tent allocated participants/students (500/- Per Person).
Use of white small torch should be minimal, it should be covered with Red Cellophane paper for reading Night Sky Maps.
Please do respect the belongings of others at the campsite and avoid damaging any articles, tents, etc. Any Damage to Tent will be recovered from the participant.
Use of mobile phone and camera with flash is to be minimal as possible or AS INSTRUCTED BY THE INSTRUCTORS / ORGANIZERS during the Observation Sessions.
Do not Flash Bright Torch or Camera Flash on others during Observation Sessions.HUMAN EYE requires 30 Minutes to completely adapt to the Dark Night Sky.
If you are carrying your own observation instrument like telescopes, binoculars, tripods stands Imaging equipment (DSLR Camera and accessories) etc., then you yourself are responsible for all your equipment.
Smoking and Drinking Alcohol is strictly prohibited at the Site. Drunken participants will be asked to leave the Site immediately. We strongly discourage you to consume alcohol in any form. The Organizers reserve the right to expel offending participants from the camp-site.

This is a sample itinerary. Kshitij reserves the right to cancel or alter any aspect of our program as a result of unforeseen circumstances, including weather, environment or health hazards. To the best of our ability, substitution of activities will be comparable to, or better than the original activity.
