FAQs

How we make sure our camps are Safe for all participants?

We select all sites that are privately owned, and that do not have walk-in clients. These sites are first visited and studied by our team ensuring the type of facilities provided, team of experts and set up available, also food, water and hygiene are ensured. Only after a pilot run, we introduce the site to our participants

How safe are Kshitij camps for girls?

Every program has atleast one female facilitator accompanying the group. Accommodation is separate for girls and boys. Even while using washrooms, girl participants are escorted by our facilitators.

How frequently will your child eat? Do we send eatables with kids?

We have 4 meals in a day, namely, Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks with Tea Coffee and Dinner. You don’t need to send any eatables with kids. But if you cannot not send - then only cookies and chocolates is preferable. We will not allow kids to carry junk and packed food for their own tummy safety.

How many instructors will accompany the kids? Are they trained?

Ideally our Participant: Facilitator ratio is 8 - 10: 1 , and we have a local team of about 2 - 3 certified instructors who have completed their courses in mountaineering and are experienced to conduct adventure activities and treks. Our Kshitij team comprises of atleast one core team member who is certified for Experiential Education and other facilitator who is trained by Team Kshitij to work with groups, specially kids, teens and youth.

Are mobile phones allowed ?

Mobiles will be allowed only during train and bus journeys and on the last day of sight-seeing at Manali. Once we reach the base camp, Kshitij facilitators will take the sim cards from all phones and kids can use mobiles for clicking pictures in case they are not carrying the optional cameras mentioned in the list of things. Will bottled water be provided ? Bottled water will be provided during journeys. Participants will have to refill their bottles at the base camp and during trek, fresh, clean water will be made available.

Is it ok for a first timer to join this camp?

This program is a moderate grade camp that involves a little higher than easy physical exertion. So if you think your child / you are up for it, you are welcome ! Though it would be ideal to experience atleast trek before you experience this program so get better clarity of your own physical and emotional capacities.

What happens when a child is hurt, how is medical help managed?

Our facilitators are always equipped with First Aid Kits and are trained to administer First Aid in our faculty training sessions. The nearest medical centre from the base camp is about 3 hours away, and during the trek also, reaching a medical centre can take anything upto 10 hours. So it’s ideal to be fully aware of the nature of the program and things to carry including personal medication. Proper filling of medical history forms will help team Kshitij to cater to special mentions. In our record of last 10 years, there hasn’t been any incident that couldn’t be handled by our team or needed medical assistance.
